Board of Directors
What is the Board of Directors?
Our Board of Directors, or BOD, consists of approximately 20 highly-involved members who are appointed to work with an executive officer to help plan events and club opportunities for their respective board. A director on the Professional Development board will work with the President to coordinate Professional Development events, Social Board will work with the Vice President, Service Board will work with the Secretary, and Fundraising Board will work with the Treasurer.
How long does a director hold their position?
Directors hold their position for one semester. They will need to reapply if they want to be on the following semester’s BOD.
What are the requirements to join the Board of Directors?
There are no set requirements to be eligible for BOD, but historically, active members are most likely to be accepted. If you are interested in applying for BOD next semester, do your best to achieve active membership and even go beyond membership requirements! The executive board takes into account the names and faces that often come early or stay behind to help clean up after events and are a friendly, familiar face at GBM's and events.
When can I apply to be a director?
Interested members must submit an application to be considered for a director position. The BOD application for the following semester will open at the end of the current semester and is typically open for 3-4 weeks. Your acceptance is dependent on your responses in the application and your involvement throughout the semester; there is no interview.

How can I run for executive board?
You must have served on the Board of Directors for at least one semester to be eligible to run for an executive position. Unlike the Board of Directors, executive members hold the position year-round (except in the case of fall graduations, for which a Fall and Spring term executive member would be elected).
How do elections for the executive board work?
At the fourth and final GBM of the Spring semester, members who want to run for executive positions will prepare a short speech with a corresponding presentation. After all the candidates running for a particular position have given their speech, the members in attendance will place their vote. The candidate with the most votes will be elected for the position.
Candidates who are not elected may slate down, or run for, any other position afterwards. The speeches & elections occur in order of President, Vice President, Secretary, and then Treasurer. Each candidate can only slate for a maximum of 2 positions.
